Step Up to the Plate

The Washburn Pitch Competition gives students three minutes to pitch a new business idea to a panel of judges for a share of $25,000 in total prize money. Three minutes, one shot and a whole lot riding on the pitch.

The concept for this year's poster came together around a vintage baseball theme – "Step Up to the Plate" felt like a natural fit for a competition that asks students to be bold, think fast and swing for the fences. I sourced a vintage stock photo of a woman at bat and built the design around her energy.

What followed was an extended approval process that ultimately produced two versions of this poster. Both are shown below – the original concept and the final approved version. I'll let you decide which one knocked it out of the park.
